Day 42 - Dease Lake BC to Teslin Yukon, 300 miles - Sunday, August 17

It has been almost two weeks since I've been able to post on my blog. My cellular doesn't work in Canada and there hasn't been any good wifi signal in the campgrounds we've stayed at.

A lot has happened since we left Glacier National Park in the USA. We crossed into Alberta, Canada on the Chief Mountain Hwy, rode thru Banff National Park, rode thru Prince George and picked up the Cassier Hwy 37, stayed in Stewart BC, stopped in Hyder, Alaska, and visited the magnificent Salmon Glacer there.

Today was our last day on the Cassier Hwy. We picked up the Alaska Highway and crossed into the Yukon Territory this afternoon before stopping for the night at a gas station/hotel in Teslin.

We were able to pack up our tents dry this am, before heading into a rainy 300 mile ride. The northern end of the Cassier Hwy was very bumpy with lots of construction. Luckily there was almost no traffic.

Here I am on Hwy 37 leaving British Columbia ...

Here's Greg on his BMW K100RS. It's all his fault we're all the way up here ...

Here's Slo Jon on his tiny Honda CBR250. It's all MY fault that he's all the way up here. All he wanted to do was ride to Sturgis SD to see Lynard Skynard in concert at the Buffalo Chip campground ...

And here I am on Hwy 37 heading into the Yukon Territories. We got to the Alaska Hwy 1 shortly after this.

Here's a nice stop for gas on the Alaska Hwy 1, near Swift River. Up to this point, there was only a very slight drizzle, but we were very cold. I had 6 layers on top and 4 layers on bottom.

The rain came down a bit harder the last 75 miles today, and we all ended up getting pretty soaked. At our last gas stop in Teslin, we decided to stay in the motel next door to dry out and get some rest - it was a tough day on the road today !!
